I love sub boxes but so many of the awesome ones ship from the USA and I just can’t afford the postage and potential customs fees for them. I discovered the World of Wizardry Box from Geek Gear a few months ago and decided to give them a go. This is my third box now and I thought I’d share the contents of it with you in a blog post.
When you sign up, you can choose which house you are in (or choose to have a random house) plus you give your t-shirt size as the boxes always include an awesome t-shirt with cool exclusive art work. The boxes themselves always have a different design too, and they always have tissue paper in your house colours inside.
The boxes always come with at least one house themed item (for your chosen house, or random if you didn’t specify one) but this box came with three! The first thing is this house themed candle. My house is Hufflepuff so I got a yellow one which is scented with vanilla. It’s quite nice and I like the little “handmade with love” label on the lid and that you can just about see the Hufflepuff badger in the background on the label. I am actually not a big fan of vanilla scents though so that was a little downside for me, but luckily it’s not really overpowering.
The next house themed item in the box is a bath bomb in your chosen house colours. I’m sure a lot of people will enjoy this product but sadly for me it’s an item I can’t use as I can’t have baths due to my medical condition, plus we don’t even have a bath anymore lol. So I will be including mine in a giveaway on my Harry Potter based Instagram account soon @lucysroomlumos. Because of this, I haven’t taken it out of the box so you’ll have to make do with a picture of it in the box. However, later on I’ll share a photo of the inside of the box leaflet so you’ll be able to see on that what each of the different bath bombs look like. The artwork on the box is quite cool though!
The third house themed item is my favourite of the three and is a Hufflepuff inspired cushion cover! I love the artwork on it and I can’t wait to go out and get a cushion to go inside it. I wasn’t able to get the Hufflepuff cushion from Primark so I am really pleased to have this instead. I’m not crazy about the material it’s made from, but hopefully once it’s got a cushion inside, it will seem a bit better.
The December box came with an awesome little Wizardry inspired recipe folder with some recipes already inside and this month, there are two more recipes to add into it. I think it’s such a cool idea and I’m definitely going to be trying some of the recipes out. Don’t worry if you missed the December box with the folder in though as they have released the folder to buy separately on their website now. There will be new recipes in the boxes every month this year and this month we have Magical Butterscotch Cheesecake, and Weasley Family Breakfast, both of which sound yummy!
There were two possible options you could get for the box exclusive art work this month, both inspired by the Expecto Patronum charm. This is the one that I got and it’s really lovely. You can see the other design in the photo of the box leaflet later on.
The boxes usually come with an exclusive pin too and this month there were three possible options you could get which were each designed by subscribers for a competition. I am thrilled with the one aimreceived which is this awesome design of the Sorting Hat! I really love anything to do with the Sorting Hat so really pleased to have got this one (though I’d have been thrilled with either of the others too as they are all great designs).
Finally, the boxes always come with a t-shirt and whilst I do like this design in general, I am not crazy about Newt’s face. He either looks really old or really grumpy so that’s a bit disappointing. It does glow in the dark apparently though so that makes up for it a bit.
I forgot to mention that there was also a poster in the box with each of the house crests on it. I haven’t opened it up yet so I haven’t shared a picture above but you can see a small picture of what it looks like in the photo below of the box leaflet that gives info on all the items in the box and shows you the possible options you could have received for products that had different variations. Although there are a couple of items I’m the box that I do really like (the pin, the print and the recipes), I have to say that I am quite disappointed with this months box; it’s definitely my least favourite of the three boxes I have had so far. Many of the items just don’t feel up to the usual high quality of their stuff so I am really hoping that next month’s will be better.
